Brief Biography:  Fred Willard was renowned for his impeccable improvisational skills and gift for playing hilariously clueless characters. A master of "straight-faced" absurdity, he became a beloved fixture in mockumentaries, sitcoms, and late-night sketch comedy over his six-decade career.

Early Life & Career Beginnings:
After graduating from the Kentucky Military Institute and the Virginia Military Institute, Willard served in the United States Army in Germany. Upon his return, he moved to New York City to pursue acting and quickly formed a comedy duo with actor Vic Greco. He became an early alumnus of the renowned The Second City comedy troupe in Chicago. He first broke into mainstream television as the ambitious but dimwitted sidekick Jerry Hubbard opposite Martin Mull in the satirical 1970s talk show Fernwood 2 Night.

Christopher Guest Mockumentaries:
Willard was best known for his long-time collaboration with writer-director Christopher Guest, consistently stealing scenes with his unscripted, confidently misguided character work.

Iconic Television & Film Roles:
In addition to his mockumentary work, Willard left an indelible mark on both television sitcoms and box office comedies:
Modern Family: Played Frank Dunphy, the energetic and quirky father of Phil Dunphy, earning an Emmy nomination.
Everybody Loves Raymond: Played Hank MacDougall, earning three Emmy nominations.
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004): Played KVWN news director Ed Harken.
WALL-E (2008): Voiced Shelby Forthright, the cheery, out-of-touch CEO of Buy n Large.
The Bold and the Beautiful: Won a Daytime Emmy Award in 2015 for Outstanding Special Guest Performer.
Sketch Comedy: Was a constant staple on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, completing over 50 sketch appearances.
