Brief Biography:  Jesse White was best remembered for portraying "Ol' Lonely," the dependable but notoriously bored Maytag Repairman, from 1967 to 1988. His distinct nasal voice and everyman comedic timing also made him a prolific voice actor and guest star on dozens of classic television series.

Early Life and Career Beginnings:
Raised in Akron, Ohio, White discovered his knack for performance at an early age. He honed his comedic instincts and stagecraft on the vaudeville circuit in the 1930s before breaking into Broadway theater. His breakout theatrical success was the hit play Harvey, where he played a comedic male sanitarium orderly, a role he would later reprise in the film adaptations.

The Maytag Icon:
White is most universally recognized for his role as the iconic, lonely Maytag Repairman in a long-running television advertising campaign. He starred in dozens of commercials that humorously emphasized the durability of Maytag appliances by portraying a technician with absolutely nothing to do. He defined this role from 1967 to 1988 before passing the baton to Gordon Jump.

Television and Film Career:
Beyond his advertising fame, White was a quintessential 20th-century character actor. He appeared in over 60 films and hundreds of television episodes, frequently playing pushy agents, fast-talking salesmen, or lovable rascals.
Notable Movies: Kiss of Death (1947), The Bad Seed (1956), Marjorie Morningstar (1958), It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963), and his final film, Matinee (1993).
Notable TV Roles: He made memorable guest appearances on The Twilight Zone, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Andy Griffith Show, The Munsters, and I Dream of Jeannie. He even made a memorable final television appearance on Seinfeld.

Voiceover Work:
White's raspy, recognizable voice was highly sought after in animation. He was the first to voice the title character in Inspector Gadget, was the voice of Chesty in the cartoon Pandamonium, and provided voices for Garfield and Friends and Jonny Quest.
