Brief Biography:  Ray Stevens is famous for his novelty hits and upbeat musical arrangements. Over a multi-decade career, he has sold over 40 million albums, earning a Grammy Award and inductions into both the Country and Nashville Songwriters Halls of Fame.

Early Life and Musical Beginnings:
Stevens showed an early affinity for music. He took piano lessons as a child, formed a band at the age of 15, and later studied music at Georgia State University. By the early 1960s, his multi-instrumental talents and knack for musical arrangement brought him to Nashville, where he became a sought-after session musician and producer.

Rise to Comedy Fame:
Stevens made a name for himself by blending sharp, observational humor with elaborate musical production and unique sound effects. His breakthrough comedic hits include "Ahab the Arab" (1962), "Gitarzan" (1969), and his massive 1974 international number-one hit "The Streak," which capitalized on the pop culture fad of public nudity.

Beyond Comedy and Social Commentary:
Despite being primarily known for comedy, Stevens is an incredibly versatile musician. He won a Grammy Award in 1971 for his sincere, inspirational pop ballad "Everything Is Beautiful". Later in his career, he released topical, satirical songs like "Would Jesus Wear a Rolex on His Television Show?" (1987) and "Mississippi Squirrel Revival" (1984).

Television and Business Ventures:
Throughout his career, Stevens expanded into television, frequently appearing on shows like Hee Haw and hosting his own programs. In the 1990s, he operated a theater in Branson, Missouri, and currently owns and operates the CabaRay Showroom in Nashville, Tennessee, where he continues to film his television variety show and perform.
