Brief Biography:  Doug Stanhope is known for his unapologetic, abrasive, and fiercely intelligent social commentary. Born in 1967, he launched his career in Las Vegas in 1990 and later relocated to Bisbee, Arizona, building a dedicated cult following for his cynical, confrontational style.

Early Life and Career Beginnings:
He began doing stand-up at a Las Vegas open mic at the age of 23. He honed his craft while working as a house MC in Phoenix, Arizona. Early in his career, he frequently performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland, where he won the prestigious Strathmore Press Award for Best Act of the Fringe.

Television and Radio:
Stanhope has maintained an active, often subversive presence in mainstream and alternative media:
The Man Show: He hosted the final two seasons of Comedy Central's The Man Show.
Voice of America: He served as a regular correspondent on BBC's Charlie Brooker's Newswipe.
Other Appearances: He has appeared on The Howard Stern Show, The Jerry Springer Show, and Girls Gone Wild.

Stand-up Style and Philosophy:
Stanhope is often compared to legendary, confrontational comics like Bill Hicks and Lenny Bruce. His stand-up material generally features explicit observations about life, political issues, and societal norms. He is well known for tackling difficult, controversial subjects from a starkly honest, anti-establishment, and libertarian perspective. Rather than perform at traditional "Adult Chuck E. Cheese" comedy clubs, he often tours and performs in rock-and-roll venues to connect with fans who appreciate his unfiltered style.

Discography and Books:
Stanhope has released over a dozen stand-up comedy albums and specials, including: No Refunds (Showtime), Die Laughing, Deadbeat Hero, and Beer Hall Putsch. He is also the author of a book of online pranks and short stories, Fun with Pedophiles: The Best of Baiting, as well as a memoir, Digging Up Mother: A Love Story.
