David Wayne Spade is renowned for his deadpan delivery and razor-sharp, self-deprecating sarcasm, he first rose to national prominence as a writer and cast member on Saturday Night Live in the 1990s.
Early Life and Stand-Up:
Spade grew up in relative poverty after his parents divorced when he was young. He developed a natural talent for quick wit and prankster behavior. While attending Arizona State University, he frequently performed stand-up in local venues. After graduating, he took his act to comedy clubs across the country, eventually being discovered by a casting agent while performing at The Improv in Los Angeles.
Saturday Night Live:
Spade joined NBC's Saturday Night Live (SNL) in 1990, where he spent five years developing a roster of memorable characters and catchphrases. He was famous for his "Hollywood Minute" segments on Weekend Update, playing the dismissive flight attendant on Total Bastard Airlines ("Buh-Bye"), and serving as the clueless receptionist ("And you are...?").
