Robert Michael "Rob" Schneider is recognized as a veteran of NBC's Saturday Night Live and for his frequent collaborations with Adam Sandler.
Early Life and Stand-Up Beginnings:
Raised in Northern California, Schneider began performing stand-up comedy while in high school, regularly opening for the San Francisco rock band "Head On". After graduating, he performed in local clubs and coffee houses before catching his major break on an HBO Young Comedians special, which was hosted by Dennis Miller.
Saturday Night Live and Rise to Fame:
In 1988, Lorne Michaels saw Schneider's HBO special and hired him as a writer for Saturday Night Live. He quickly transitioned from a writer to a full cast member, becoming part of the legendary "Bad Boys of SNL" group alongside Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Chris Farley. During his four seasons, he created popular recurring characters like "The Copy Machine Guy," "Orgasm Guy," and "Tiny Elvis". His writing for the show earned him three Emmy nominations.
Film Career and Blockbuster Hits:
Following his departure from SNL in 1994, Schneider transitioned to a highly successful film career. He starred in beloved comedies like Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo (1999), The Animal (2001), and The Hot Chick (2002). He is also a staple in Adam Sandler's film universe, co-starring in major box-office hits such as: The Waterboy, Big Daddy, 50 First Dates, Grown Ups, and You Don't Mess with the Zohan. He made his directorial debut with the 2007 comedy Big Stan.
