Brief Biography:  Christopher Julius Rock is ranked among the greatest comedians of all time, he rose to prominence in the 1990s on Saturday Night Live and through blistering, Emmy-winning stand-up specials like Bring the Pain and Tamborine.

Early Life and Career Beginnings:
Born in South Carolina, Rock relocated with his family to Brooklyn, New York, and was raised in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. Bused to predominantly white schools, he endured severe bullying and racism, experiences that would later shape his sharp, observational style of comedy. After dropping out of high school, he earned his GED while working minimum-wage jobs. He began performing stand-up in New York City nightclubs in 1984. He was soon discovered and mentored by Eddie Murphy, who gave him his first film role in Beverly Hills Cop II (1987).

Television and Film:
Rock achieved national prominence as a cast member on Saturday Night Live (1990–1993). He went on to star in several hit films, including Down to Earth (2001), Head of State (2003), and Top Five (2014), and voiced Marty the Zebra in the wildly successful Madagascar animated franchise. On television, he created, wrote, and narrated the acclaimed, semi-autobiographical sitcom Everybody Hates Chris (2005–2009).
