Brief Biography:
Paul Andrew "Andy" Richter is globally recognized as the longtime sidekick and comedic foil to Conan O'Brien across his late-night programs, including Late Night, The Tonight Show, and Conan.
Early Life:
Richter was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the second of four children, and was raised primarily in Yorkville, Illinois. His mother was a kitchen cabinet designer and his father taught Russian at Indiana University. He attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and later transferred to Columbia College Chicago to study film, where he immersed himself in the city's improv and sketch comedy scene.
Career Beginnings & Late Night:
In 1993, Richter was hired as the sidekick and writer for Late Night with Conan O'Brien. He provided a critical comedic counterweight to O'Brien's antics, frequently participating in sketches and interacting during monologues. He left the show in 2000 to pursue a broader acting career but returned to Conan's side as an announcer when he took over The Tonight Show in 2009. He stayed by O'Brien's side until Conan concluded its run on TBS.

Outside of late-night television, Richter has had a prolific acting and voice career:
Film: He is well known for voicing Mort the lemur in the Madagascar film franchise and appeared in live-action comedies like Elf and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
Television: He starred in the cult-classic Fox sitcom Andy Richter Controls the Universe as well as Andy Barker, P.I.. He has also made recurring appearances in shows like Arrested Development and Santa Clarita Diet.
