Erica Rhodes is known for her sharp wordplay, deadpan delivery, and distinct comedic voice. Getting her start in showbiz at a young age, she has built a robust career through her stand-up specials, viral interviews, and appearances on hit sitcoms.
Early Life and Radio Beginnings:
Rhodes grew up in a household deeply immersed in the performing arts. Her mother was a professional violinist with the Boston Pops Orchestra, and her father was a professional clarinetist who transitioned to being an accountant. A major turning point occurred when, through her aunt, she was introduced to Garrison Keillor. Rhodes began appearing and writing for NPR's A Prairie Home Companion when she was just 10 years old.
Television & Stand-up Breakthrough:
Rhodes initially pursued a path as a "serious actress," studying ballet and acting. However, after struggling in NYC auditions, she transitioned to stand-up comedy. She became a favorite on shows like Comedy Central's @midnight and made guest appearances on sitcoms such as ABC's Modern Family and Fox's New Girl. She later competed on NBC's comedy reality competition Bring the Funny, where judge Jeff Foxworthy hailed her as "the best-defined comic voice of the competition". Stand-up Specials and Viral Success:
Rhodes boasts several highly acclaimed releases:
"Sad Lemon": Her debut comedy album, which hit #1 on the iTunes comedy charts.
"La Vie en Rhodes": Her first hour-long special, shot at the Rose Bowl as part of the Tribeca Drive-In fest.
"Ladybug": Her second full-length comedy album. She has also gained a massive online following, particularly after her hilarious appearances on the WGN Morning News went viral and racked up millions of views.
