Brief Biography:
David Pasquesi is best known for his influential work in Chicago's long-form improvisational scene and memorable television roles, such as Andrew Meyer on HBO's Veep and his celebrated two-man improv show TJ and Dave.
Early Life and Comedy Beginnings:
Pasquesi was raised in the suburb of Lake Bluff. Unlike many performers, he did not pursue theater in grade school or college. He stumbled into improvisation in his early twenties through a workshop attended with his older brother. He trained directly under the legendary Del Close and went on to become a fixture at Chicago's renowned institutions like The Second City, the iO Theater, and the Annoyance Theatre.
TJ & Dave:
In 2002, Pasquesi teamed up with comedian TJ Jagodowski to form the critically acclaimed improv duo TJ and Dave. Famous for their hour-long, unscripted, naturalistic performances, the duo became a legendary staple of the Chicago comedy scene and began running highly successful monthly, off-Broadway shows at the Barrow Street Theatre in New York City.
Television and Film Career:
Pasquesi has balanced a prolific acting career on both stage and screen. His notable television credits include:
Veep (2012–2019): Played Andrew Meyer, the ex-husband of Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s character Selina Meyer.
Strangers with Candy (1999–2000): Appeared as Stew.
At Home with Amy Sedaris (2017–2020): Played the recurring character "Knife Man".
Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett (2021–2022): Portrayed the majordomo to Mayor Mok Shaiz. His film career includes memorable supporting roles in major features such as Father of the Bride (1991), Groundhog Day (1993), The Fugitive (1993), and Angels & Demons (2009).
Writing and Personal Life:
In addition to performing, Pasquesi is an accomplished writer. He has written for Exit 57, Strangers with Candy, and co-wrote and starred in the Spike TV series Factory. Pasquesi holds dual American and Italian citizenship and often splits his time between Chicago and Bologna, Italy.
