Brief Biography:
Jay Mohr is known for his razor-sharp celebrity impressions and dynamic stage presence. Born in Verona, New Jersey, he began performing stand-up at age 16. He first rose to national prominence as a cast member on Saturday Night Live in the mid-90s.
Stand-Up Comedy & Television:
Starting his career in comedy clubs, Jay Mohr quickly made a name for himself as a rapid-fire, high-energy comic. He has released multiple one-hour comedy specials and was named one of the "100 Greatest Stand-Up Comics of All Time" by Comedy Central. In addition to touring, Mohr co-created and hosted NBC’s hit reality competition series, Last Comic Standing in 2003, which focused on the art and hustle of live stand-up.
Film & Acting Roles:
While maintaining a thriving stand-up career, Mohr successfully transitioned to film and television. His major film breakthrough came in 1996 when he played the ruthless sports agent Bob Sugar opposite Tom Cruise in the blockbuster hit Jerry Maguire. Other notable film credits include:

Mohr is the author of the best-selling memoir Gasping for Airtime: Two Years in the Trenches of Saturday Night Live, which details his time on the sketch show and his early struggles with severe panic attacks. Beyond the stage and screen, Mohr has been a staple in sports and entertainment radio, hosting nationally syndicated shows such as Jay Mohr Sports and his own long-running podcast Mohr Stories. A cousin of late-night host Conan O'Brien, Mohr has been married to WNBA executive Jeanie Buss since 2023.
