Early Life and Career:
Before pursuing comedy full-time, he worked in construction and as a caseworker at a homeless shelter. He entered the comedy circuit later in life, performing at local clubs such as Harlem’s Uptown Comedy Club. There, he met a then-fledgling comedian, Tracy Morgan, and took him under his wing. He became Morgan's close friend, confidant, and mentor.
Comedy and Writing:
Despite not achieving mainstream celebrity status, McNair was highly respected within the comedy community. He toured extensively, energized comedy scenes across the country, and wrote material for other comedians. When Morgan joined the cast of Saturday Night Live and starred in the hit television show 30 Rock, McNair frequently contributed freelance writing and material to support him. He also hosted The Original Uncle Jimmy Mack’s Amateur Hour, a regular event in his hometown that served as a platform to discover and showcase emerging local talent.
Community Involvement:
Known for his humble and giving nature, McNair was deeply involved in the Peekskill community. He frequently volunteered at his local church, held community fundraisers, and served food at Salvation Army shelters.
