Brief Biography:  Joel McHale is best known for his biting pop-culture commentary on E!'s The Soup (2004–2015) and his starring role as the slick lawyer Jeff Winger in the hit NBC sitcom Community.

Early Life & Education:
Birth & Roots: Born November 20, 1971, in Rome, Italy, to an American father and a Canadian mother. He was raised in Seattle, Washington.
Athletics: He attended the University of Washington, where he majored in history and played on the football team.
Theater: He discovered his passion for performance and improv in Seattle before completing a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Acting at the university's Actor's Training Program.

Breakout Career & Television:
The Soup (2004–2015): McHale gained widespread recognition for his 12-year run hosting E!'s The Soup, a rapid-fire, sarcastic recap of weekly pop culture and reality television.
