Maruyama has been a staple of the Los Angeles comedy scene for decades, starting her improv journey after earning a theater degree from San Diego State University. She is recognized for her recurring roles on hit television series, including The Jamie Foxx Show, Suddenly Susan, and Arrested Development. She has also made memorable guest appearances on Curb Your Enthusiasm, Baskets, and both the American and British versions of Whose Line Is It Anyway?.
