Brief Biography:
Noel Murphy has spent more than four decades working across stand-up, television, and documentary filmmaking. He is well-known within the comedy industry for transforming the New York Comedy Club from a struggling establishment into a premier comedy showcase venue.
Comedy Career:
Beginnings: His first stage appearance dates back to 1971 alongside storyteller Brother Blue at Harvard University.
Stand-up Scene: He formally launched his stand-up comedy career in the early 1980s at the famous Ding Ho Comedy Club in Boston.
Collaborations: Over his active comedy career, he has shared the stage or worked professionally with massive entertainment icons including Jay Leno, Paula Poundstone, Bon Jovi, and Bill Cosby.
The Noel Murphy Show: He created, produced, and hosted this television program, which successfully ran for 11 years on SCTV in Central Coast California.
Satirical Alter Ego: He created the character "Dr. Rupert Opie," a character designed to serve as a satirical parody of pompous television self-help gurus.
Literary Work: He authored the instructional humor book, "How to Talk Funny and Influence People".
