Brief Biography:  Steve Landesberg was widely known for his deadpan delivery, dry wit, and role as Detective Arthur Dietrich on the hit ABC sitcom Barney Miller.

Born: Stephen Landesberg was born on November 23, 1936, in the Bronx, New York, to a milliner mother and grocery-owning father.
Stand-up: He honed his signature cerebral humor and observational wit at New York City clubs, performing regularly at The Improv alongside legends like Billy Crystal, Freddie Prinze, and Jimmie Walker. He frequently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.
Improv: He was an early member of the comedy troupe the New York Stickball Team.

Barney Miller & TV Stardom:
Landesberg is best remembered for his portrayal of the supernaturally intelligent, calm, and wise-cracking Detective Arthur P. Dietrich on Barney Miller.
