Brief Biography:  Jo Koy is known for his relatable observational humor and affectionate impressions of his Filipino mother, he has broken global ticket sales records at major arenas and released multiple hit comedy specials on Netflix.

Early Life and Career Beginnings:
Jo Koy was raised by a European-American father, who served in the U.S. Air Force, and a Filipina mother, Josie Harrison. He often credits his mother for encouraging his comedic talents by having him perform in school talent shows and at family gatherings. After finishing high school in Tacoma, his family moved to Las Vegas to be near his grandmother. He enrolled at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), but ultimately dropped out to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. He performed his first open-mic night at a coffee house in Las Vegas in 1994. Koy's stage name comes from a childhood mix-up: during a 1989 family dinner, his aunt called out "Jo Ko, eat!" (with "ko" meaning "my" in Tagalog). He misheard the phrase as "Jo Koy" and decided to use it as his professional stage name.

Rise to Fame and Television:
Koy's career gained significant momentum when he was spotted by a talent scout in Las Vegas and subsequently relocated to Los Angeles. He made his national TV debut on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2005. He later became a fixture on television as a frequent roundtable guest on E!'s Chelsea Lately with Chelsea Handler. His other television appearances include The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and The Late Late Show with James Corden.

Comedy Specials and Touring:
Jo Koy is celebrated for his globally sold-out arena tours. He has released several highly successful stand-up specials on Comedy Central and Netflix. In 2019, his stand-up album Live From Seattle reached #1 on the Billboard Comedy Charts. He consistently ranks among the top-grossing comedians worldwide according to Pollstar and Billboard. In 2017, after breaking the attendance record for a single artist at the Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall in Honolulu, the mayor officially proclaimed November 24th as "Jo Koy Day".
