Brief Biography:  Jonathan Katz is best known for creating and starring in the groundbreaking Comedy Central animated series Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist, which earned him a Primetime Emmy Award.

Early Life and Career:
Before his comedy career took off, he was an accomplished musician and songwriter. He led an R&B group called "Katz and Jammers" and even worked as the musical director for comedian Robin Williams on his 1979 stand-up tour.
Katz attended Goddard College, where he forged a lifelong friendship with playwright and filmmaker David Mamet. The two frequently collaborated; Katz helped write the story for the critically acclaimed Mamet film House of Games and made appearances in several of his other films, including State and Main and Things Change.
Katz eventually segued into stand-up comedy, making his television debut on Late Night with David Letterman in 1985. He would go on to make numerous late-night appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and The Tonight

Dr. Katz and Voice Acting:
In 1995, Katz co-created the adult animated sitcom Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist alongside Tom Snyder. The show, which famously utilized "Squigglevision" animation, featured Katz as an affable therapist listening to the comedic musings of A-list guest stars who played fictionalized versions of themselves. The beloved series ran for six seasons on Comedy Central and secured a Peabody Award in addition to Katz's Emmy. Throughout his career, Katz has lent his voice to several other animated series, including Home Movies (as Erik Robbins), Bob's Burgers, South Park, and Explosion Bus.

Personal Life and Legacy:
At the height of his television success, Katz was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. He has been an outspoken advocate for the MS community, serving as a Goodwill Ambassador for the National MS Society and continuing to work as a creative force and motivational speaker.
