Brief Biography:
Jeff Garlin is widely known for his roles as Jeff Greene on HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm and Murray Goldberg on ABC's The Goldbergs. Known for his improvisational skills and observational comedy, Garlin has been a prominent figure in comedy since the 1980s.
Early Life and Career:
Early Ambition: Decided to be a comedian at age eight after seeing Jimmy Durante.
Education: Attended Broward Community College and the University of Miami, where he began performing stand-up before dropping out to pursue comedy full-time.
Second City: In 1984, he moved back to Chicago and joined the famous The Second City improv troupe, where he worked in the box office alongside Stephen Colbert.
Early Connections: Was briefly roommates with Conan O'Brien in the late 1980s and later worked with Larry David, Denis Leary, and Jon Stewart on their comedy specials.
Major Roles and Projects:
Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000–2024): Co-starred and executive produced the HBO show, playing Larry David's manager, Jeff Greene.
The Goldbergs (2013–2021): Starred as patriarch Murray Goldberg for nine seasons before leaving the show.
Film Roles: Appeared in Daddy Day Care (2003) and had voice roles in WALL-E (2008), Toy Story 3 (2010), and Toy Story 4 (2019) as Buttercup.
