Born on August 27, 1950, in Washington, D.C., Fleischer initially studied medicine at Southampton College before switching his focus to acting at the Goodman School of Drama in Chicago. He began his career in the comedy club circuit, making his television debut on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In in 1973, where he performed music on homemade instruments.
