Nora Dunn is best known as a cast member on Saturday Night Live (SNL) from 1985 to 1990. Known for her sharp-witted character roles, she has built a steady career in film and television, including roles in Working Girl, Bruce Almighty, and Home Economics.
Early Life and Career:
Born in Chicago to a musician/poet father and nurse mother, Dunn is the sister of actor Kevin Dunn. She trained at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Academy of Fine Arts before honing her skills with the Second City troupe.
Saturday Night Live (1985–1990):
During her tenure, often considered part of a challenging era for the show, Dunn established herself with sharp character work, such as talk show host Pat Stevens, the "Sweeney Sisters" (with Jan Hooks), and film critic Ashley Ashley. She was known for impressions of celebrities like Liza Minnelli and Barbara Bush. She left in 1990 after boycotting an episode.
