Brief Biography:  Mercedes Delpino was a prominent vaudeville performer and the first wife of legendary comedian Bert Lahr.

Early Life and Career:
Mercedes was a chorus girl, dancer, and comedian. She was widely celebrated for her beauty, often described as "dark and alluring" on the vaudeville and burlesque stages during the 1920s.
She formed a highly successful comedy duo with Bert Lahr, known as "Lahr & Mercedes." The pair became vaudeville headliners with their "ultra-smart" act and made their Broadway debut together in Harry Delmar's Revels in 1927.

Personal Life and Marriage:
Mercedes married Bert Lahr on August 29, 1929, in New York. They had one son, Herbert Lahr (1928–2002).
Tragically, her career was cut short by severe mental health struggles. By 1930, bouts of mental instability led to her permanent hospitalization in an asylum. Due to her condition, Bert Lahr eventually obtained a divorce in 1939.
