Brief Biography:  Lawrence Gene David renowned for co-creating the landmark sitcom Seinfeld and starring in the HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm. Known for his "misanthropic" humor and focus on the petty frustrations of social life, he is often described as a "comic's comic" whose abrasive style eventually achieved massive mainstream success.

Early Life and Career:
Born on July 2, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, David grew up in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood. He graduated with a history degree from the University of Maryland in 1970.
Military Service: After college, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve as a petroleum storage specialist.
Struggling Comic: David spent years performing stand-up in New York City, where he was notorious for walking off stage if he felt the audience wasn't "getting" his jokes. To support himself, he worked as a limousine driver, store clerk, and even a television repairman.
Early Television: He served as a writer and cast member for ABC’s Fridays (1980–1982) and had a brief, frustrating one-year stint writing for Saturday Night Live (1984–1985), where only one of his sketches ever made it to air.

Major Works:
Seinfeld (1989–1998): Teaming up with Jerry Seinfeld, David co-created what became a cultural phenomenon. He served as the head writer and executive producer for the first seven seasons and was the primary inspiration for the character George Costanza.
Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000–2024): Following the success of Seinfeld, David created this largely improvised series for HBO. He starred as a semi-fictionalized, socially awkward version of himself, which ran for 12 seasons and won multiple awards, including a Golden Globe.
Bernie Sanders Impersonation: Since 2015, David has made recurring guest appearances on Saturday Night Live portraying Senator Bernie Sanders, who was later revealed through genealogical research to be his distant cousin.
