Brief Biography:
David Cross known for his acerbic, political humor and cult-classic sketch work. He is best known for starring as Tobias Fünke in Arrested Development and for co-creating the HBO sketch series Mr. Show with Bob and David.
Early Life and Career:
Raised in a low-income household, Cross has described a tumultuous upbringing that included evictions and his father abandoning the family at age 10.
Stand-up Beginnings: He started performing stand-up at age 17 before briefly attending Emerson College in Boston, which he dropped out of to pursue comedy full-time.
Early Success: He won an Emmy in 1993 for writing on The Ben Stiller Show.
Key Projects and Roles:
Mr. Show (1995–1998): Co-created and starred in this influential HBO sketch series with Bob Odenkirk, later reuniting for Netflix's W/ Bob & David in 2015.
Arrested Development (2003–2019): Played the memorable character Tobias Fünke in the hit Fox/Netflix sitcom.
