Early Career:
Born in New York City, he began performing in the 1930s at age 16. He gained early fame on the radio talent show Major Bowes Amateur Hour and entertained troops with the USO during World War II.
Film & Television: He is most famous for his role as Mister Beinstock, the long-suffering band manager in the classic Billy Wilder comedy Some Like It Hot (1959). Other film credits include High Society and Playgirl.
Voice Acting: A master of mimicry, Barry voiced characters in over 50 cartoons. He was one of several actors to voice the villain Bluto in the Popeye series and specialized in celebrity impressions for Warner Bros.' Looney Tunes.
