Brief Biography:  Joey Bishop was an American comedian and actor best known as the "straight man" and material writer for the Rat Pack. Recognized for his dry, deadpan delivery, he was a staple of 1960s television as both a sitcom star and a late-night talk show host.

Early Life and Career:
Early Act: He started in a comedic trio called the "Bishop Brothers" before moving to solo stand-up in the Borscht Belt.
Military Service: During World War II, he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Special Services, entertaining troops stationed at Fort Sam Houston.

The Rat Pack Era:
Joey Bishop was a core member of the "Rat Pack" alongside Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and Peter Lawford.
The "Speaker of the House": Sinatra referred to him as the "hub of the big wheel" because Bishop wrote much of the group's material and served as the emcee for their legendary shows at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas.
Film Roles: He starred with the group in the original Ocean's 11 (1960) and Sergeants 3 (1962).
Sinatra Feud: He was famously cut out of the group and replaced in Robin and the 7 Hoods (1964) after reportedly demanding a private plane and a large fee to cover for Sinatra during a personal crisis.

Television Success:
The Joey Bishop Show (Sitcom): Premiering in 1961, the sitcom ran for four seasons. He played a talk show host named Joey Barnes.
Talk Show & Regis Philbin: From 1967 to 1969, he hosted a late-night talk show on ABC to compete with Johnny Carson. It is notably remembered for featuring a young Regis Philbin as his sidekick.
Tonight Show Guest Host: Bishop holds a record as one of the most frequent guest hosts for Johnny Carson, filling in over 175 times.
